“When one tugs at a single thing in nature, he finds it attached to the rest of the world”

John Muir

Flourish is one of the support services provided by the Family Centre in Castlebar, Co. Mayo. There are three link workers as part of this service. Together, they cover the areas of Castlebar, Claremorris, Belmullet/Erris, Ballina, Achill and all surrounding areas. The Flourish service is ideal for any adult who feels they would like to explore ways to meet new people, develop new interests and hobbies. Flourish can support your health and wellbeing by linking you with activities, supports, and resources based in your community such as social groups, arts & creativity, physical activities, learning new skills, further education, outdoor activities, support groups and ways to self-care. Flourish offers a supportive and enjoyable way for people to do this and make the most out of their lives. Flourish is for all adults and often people contact Flourish when they are adjusting to a new phase of life e. g. new to an area, retirement, relationship & family changes etc. It is a well-researched fact that developing our interests and having a good network of friends impacts positively on our health and wellbeing.

There is a range of interesting Flourish programmes to choose from whether that be Discover your interests 8 week programme, or Arts and Wellbeing, Mindful Mondays, John Hoban’s Music circle or our popular “Give yourself a gift of a self-care day with Flourish”. Participants find these programmes offer a very practical, enjoyable and gentle way to meet other people, develop new hobbies, go on social outings, and build up social and self-confidence, while also learning valuable wellbeing tools including mindfulness for daily living and the five ways to wellbeing.
